There is something that everyone should be doing right when they wake up every morning.
And that is drink water. Why?
Well let me break it down for you. I feel like we all know it’s important to drink water, but knowing why it’s valuable has really motivated me to implement this healthy habit into my daily routine.
First things first, it’ll help wake you up. If you struggle to crawl out of bed in the early hours of the morning, one, you’re not alone, and two, drink water. You will instantly feel less groggy and more alert. You know when you’re hiking and haven’t drank water in a while, and you feel like you’re quickly running out of steam? That’s dehydration. It’s the same dehydration that you feel after your body is deprived of water all throughout the night while you’re asleep. While dehydration makes you lethargic, hydration will do just the opposite. Bonus: splash your face with ice water or use your favorite ice roller to de-puff and aid in energy.
It’s easy to mistake thirst for hunger. When you drink a glass of water, it gives you a moment to be more mindful about your breakfast choices.
Here’s a biggie: water removes toxins from your body. When you drink more water, your skin will look healthier and more glowing. When you drink more water, you are less likely to get sick. This is all because water flushes out your toxins – the same toxins that can mess with your health and wellness, both visibly and within the body.
For a faster metabolism, drink water. Opt for a cool glass {cool as in cold, not as in awesome – although that’s great too!} for the greatest benefit.
I think we should all commit to drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning for the next week and test out the benefits. Is anyone else with me?
