I hate the taste of water.
For the longest time, I have never been one of those people who could casually drink water all day. I envied my friends who “crave” water and desperately reach for it every chance they get. I don’t know why but I just couldn’t ever get in to the idea of chugging water and staying hydrated.
That was until Aqua Hydrate {this is not sponsored} sent me a few cases of their alkaline water to try. Alkaline water is trending faster than celery juice. I hate trends. I’d heard of a few people installing alkaline water systems in their houses and to be honest I kind of rolled my eyes. I’m just so NOT the type of person to take that much effort into things as simple as the type of water I drink.
But then a few weekends ago, I started only drinking Aqua Hydrate and oh.my.GOD did I feel a difference.
It doesn’t taste like regular water and the only way I can really explain how it tastes is that it’s wet. It water infused with water {ha!}. I know that sounds crazy but it’s true.
For the first time, probably ever, I feel like I am getting an adequate amount of hydration. Gone are my 4 o’clock head aches and I’ve said goodbye to any type of hangovers. I feel like I am finally getting the correct amount of water in my system.
Because alkaline water has a higher pH level than does plain tap water, proponents say that it can neutralize acid in your bloodstream.
It is bottled water sold as alkaline water, which is subject to regulation by the Food and Drug Administration. It has a higher PH than regular drinking water and can neutralize the acid in your body. Some say that alkaline water can help prevent disease, such as cancer and heart disease. However, more research is needed to verify these claims.
Despite the lack of proven scientific research, it doesn’t hurt right? Even if it is just a mental “placebo affect,” drinking alkaline water has definitely helped me stay better hydrated and that, for me, is a win win!
Have you tried alkaline water yet? What do you think about it?
