Okay party people, consider Thanksgiving weekend your fire drill for traveling this holiday season.
Now it’s time for the real deal when it comes to Do’s and Don’ts this season. With baby Damsel on her way in a month, we have put a stop on all of our holiday travels – I can’t say that I’m too upset to be sitting out this holiday. But as a seasoned pro {we fly to Texas and Aspen every December}, I thought I’d share my top tips when it comes to holiday travel etiquette.
You would be very surprised what a little smile and kind attitude can do for your overall travel experience. Everyone is cranky, running late and the airport is utter chaos during the holiday season. Go in with a positive attitude and smile at fellow passengers to help spread holiday cheer.
From the moment my foot hits the pavement at LAX I have headphones in my ears playing music. Music can truly elevate your mood and it really drowns out the stressful sounds of intercoms screaming, babies crying and other white noise that can raise anxiety.
I love headphones that tuck inside my ears during travel days because they really cancel out other noise at the airport.
Shop NowGet excited for landing at your destination by starting the party early en route. Have a cocktail on the plane or at the airport bar. Bust out some card games or fun holiday movies for your journey. Just don't get so sloshed that you annoy fellow passengers.
If your schedule allows, try booking flights on actual holiday dates versus the days before/after. You would be surprised by how much less a flight costs on Christmas Day versus Christmas Eve. It will also feel a lot less chaotic and crowded at the airport on these days.
There's nothing worse than running through the airport to catch your flight. We've all been there. Do yourself a favor and allow plenty of time at the airport. We all know it's going to be a madhouse.
During the holiday season, I hate carry-on luggage. It's always a fight for overhead bin space and it's honestly not worth the stress. I prefer to check everything into one large bag with a bright pink tag so I can easily spot my piece on the other side.
