Stuck on how to spend the long weekend? You’re certainly not alone.
There’s so much chatter around what to do, that making long weekend plans can sometimes become a stressful thing, when it surely shouldn’t be. We at Damsel Inc. have brainstormed our favorite unconventional Memorial Day weekend plans that are a guaranteed good time.
We have a tradition at our house called “Bed Day.” It’s truly the best thing ever. We do everything in bed – we eat in bed, we watch movies in bed, binge watch TV in bed… you name it! When’s the last time you just stayed in bed all day when you’re not sick? It’s probably been a while, huh? So treat yourself to your very own “Bed Day.” You won’t regret it.
I love having cook offs {or drink offs} with friends. Invite them all over to your pad, get a bunch of ingredients {get creative, have them bring some too!}, and challenge your friends to see who can make the best cocktail {or mocktail}. Pick a few judges who have to do a taste test and rank on presentation, execution, and obviously deliciousness. Also fun to do an ultimate speed round and see what you can come up with super fast.
One of my favorite things to do is go to a magazine stand and casually peruse what the latest and greatest is. Stash up on all your favorite reads – from cooking magazines to fashion, and spend the day catching up.
Take the day to yourself or invite some friends over and get pampered together. A day off is the perfect excuse to treat yourself. Maybe make some at home face masks or draw a nice, long bubble bath, maybe do some journaling. The possibilities are endless.
Whether its at a local park or your backyard, it’s always special having a picnic. Order your favorite takeout or chef something up. In college, my friends and I used to each get takeout from out favorite spot and all come together to eat the random assortment of goodies. It’s so easy and so fun.
I don’t care where you are, renting a sick vintage car automatically makes you feel like you’re on vacation. We used to do this all the time. You run around, see things you never payed attention to before, get fast food, and just see where the day takes you. Get lost! Not only will you have fun, but you’ll look cool doing it.
Do an art project – maybe paint or create a collage. It’s so easy to forget to really tap into our creative side every so often. If you don’t want to do this on your own, find your local art studio or take a “wine and paint class,” which I’ve heard are a great time {I mean what’s there not to love}!
Have any other long weekend ideas? Share them with us below! Maybe we’ll have to take a page out of your book.
