At least twice a year I do a huge closet clean and yesterday was the day.
Unlike a lot of my fellow blogger friends, you would be surprised to find a very minimal amount of clothing in my closet. And while the above photos might not look “minimal” to you – please look up “Blogger Closet” on Pinterest and you’ll know what I’m talking about. When my friends/family come over they are many times surprised that I don’t own hundreds of pairs of shoes. The truth is, I wear the same pieces over and over again. And for me, the less options I have is sometimes better for my ADD mind.
I make 3 different piles: Donate, Sell & Depop Sell. I run a store on Depop where I’ll be listing a TON of pieces from my closet next week so be sure to check that out. Secondly, I take the middle range pieces to Crossroads in Los Angeles. Lastly, the items that don’t make the “to sell” list get donated to the Downtown Women’s Center.
It all really boils down to my mood. I have to be in one of those crazy “I hate all of my clothes and I am getting rid of everything and starting from scratch” kind of moods. Hey, we’ve all been there. In the end it’s always quite interesting to see which pieces made the cut and honestly, once my closet is completely gutted down to what I consider the bare minimum I can really focus on purchasing pieces that I “need.” I was quite shocked to see how many white button down tops I have. I really only need 2. I also found that I always grab my tan J.Crew blazer and never wear a lot of the other ones I was holding on to. So, I sold a few that I never wear and purchased the same J.Crew blazer in black!
Here are a few more purchases I made POST closet clean:
When it comes to accessories, jewelry specifically, I don't get rid of special pieces. This gold coin necklace from Missoma is such a classic, I can see it quickly becoming a staple.
Shop NowI noticed that I didn't have a go to black dress that I could toss on for any kind of day. This one isn't too pricey and I like the length.
Shop NowQuickly did I notice that the majority of my pieces are comfortable. I hate being uncomfortable. I like this sweatshirt because it's cute but cozy.
Shop NowSplurge Alert: I purchased this new tan clutch for spring/summer because I noticed I didn't have one.I've been really into clutches to carry during the day so I am VERY excited to add this to my rotation.
Shop NowPrinted tops and any print for that matter isn't really my thing but I wanted to add a few pops to my closet so I got this simple one from TopShop.
Shop NowMy black denim was completed faded to the point of embarrassment so I finally invested in a new pair.
Shop NowI have a borderling disgusting pair of tan oxfords that I have literally worn into the ground. They are my favorite but it is finally time to replace them. I hope these Everlane beauties are comfortable! I'll keep you posted.
Shop NowI recently bought these pants in white, and I am obsessed with them. So, I thought why not get them in navy too? You can never have too many track pants, right?
