It’s all fun and games in January when we make lofty goals and aspirational resolutions.
Then comes February 1st and, if you’re like the rest of us, the list begins to dwindle and excuses start to roll out as to why you didn’t make the gym this week and how the extra glass of wine on a Monday night was only because “the Bachelor was on!”
Listen, I’m guilty on all fronts. Last week I announced that I would be doing a 10-day sugar free challenge on my Instagram only to admit to my failure on day 3 when I caved into a big bowl of pasta. We’re only human.
While I didn’t make a hard list of resolutions for 2018, I do have short term goals that I’m trying to stick to. So if you are like me and are looking to amp up the game for 2018 and give that resolution list a breath of fresh air, here are 6 tips to staying motivated in the second month of the year.
I don’t mean make a list of anything and everything you want to do until 2019. Instead, make a short term list of weekly goals and tasks that will help you work toward accomplishing a larger goal.
This is my all time favorite notebook for journaling. I have one for work, one for personal and one for random things I like to jot down.
Shop NowMy strongest tip for staying motivated to reach your goals is to do a cleanse, and I don’t mean a diet cleanse. A social media and networking cleanse. Take a hard look at what you look at every single day and the people that you surround yourself with. Are the social media accounts that you follow making you feel good about yourself and keeping you inspired. Do the friends that you surround yourself with lift you up and motivate you? If the answer is “no,” then you might want to think about doing a hard cleanse on the things and people that you are allowing to influence your subconscious mind with daily. I recently started following some new accounts that inspired me {and unfollowed those that I didn’t get much from} and I thought I’d share them here. Click the photos to be taken to their pages.
If your budget can handle it, invest in a new toy that will excite you to work toward success. Whether it be a new sports bra, a new cookbook or {if you’re like me} a new camera, getting a fun new toy to play with will add a jolt of renewal to your plan.
I just purchased this over the weekend and it boosted my creative energy!
Shop NowI recently read “The Miracle Morning” and it literally changed the way I think about my morning routine. I used to dread mornings and think of them as a time that I couldn’t seem to drag out long enough before having to get ready for the day. Now I truly value my morning time. Whether it means morning yoga, meditation, making a list of affirmations or even changing the way you drink your coffee, mornings set the mood for the entire rest of your day so make it great!
This is my new favorite coffeemaker that my cousin got me for Christmas. I am so obsessed and it really makes coffee time feel extra special!
Shop NowI read this book last year and it made such a huge impact on me. I cannot recommend it enough!
Shop NowWhether it’s a post it note that you leave on your bathroom mirror or a sticker on the fridge, leave tangible evidence that will remind you of your goal daily. I like printing out a monthly calendar and mapping out my plan. I will put an “X” on the days that I work out and write down little reminders and affirmations. It feels good to check things off of a piece of paper and offers a small sign of victory.
