I knew it was time to start having an open conversation about CBD when my parents started asking about what CBD oil was…
I feel like everywhere you turn these days, at least in Los Angeles where it has recently become legal, everyone’s talking about using different CBD oils as remedies for different ailments, illnesses, discomforts and just plain recreation. I have to admit that when CBD oil {aka weed} became legal, I too became convinced that maybe it wasn’t as taboo as I had originally thought. If it was legal and people were using it for wellness purposes, maybe I should explore using it too.
Whether you have a hard time falling asleep at night or struggling with arthritis – or even if your pet is suffering from some illness, CBD is a wonderful, natural remedy for everyone to use. If you have questions about CBD, like I certainly did when I started to explore using it, we have interviewed our friends over at MedMen to learn more about it and how to use it.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound within the cannabis plant that can be associated with numerous health and therapeutic benefits such as pain management, anxiety reduction, improved sleep and decreased inflammation. CBD is non-psychoactive (AKA you won't get high), and a great entry point for the casual cannabis user.
There are many different forms of CBD such as oils, edibles, gel capsules, vape pens and more - and they are available in many different strengths, depending on the ratio of CBD to THC (the other component in the cannabis plant that gives you that “high” feeling). There are products available that are pure CBD, to products with varying ratios of CBD to THC.
Depending on the product, CBD can be consumed in many different ways, such as topically (on the skin), inhaled and also infused into tinctures, food & drinks.
CBD oils are often used to help people get a better nights sleep and improve sleep patterns in general. My mom has had a really hard time sleeping and she was taking Ambien for a really long time. While Ambien helps people sleep, there is a long list of side effects and it can be horribly addictive. When I heard that CBD oil could help improve your sleep, I encouraged my mom to look into it right away. She ended up trying this CBD Water which she loves and even got Grant to start using it, as he often has trouble sleeping and has taken Ambien from time to time. If you are worried about any side effects, MedMen says:
CBD-only products don’t contain THC, the compound which gets you high, so many people find little to no unexpected side effects. You should consult a doctor before taking supplements or treatments of any kind.
Not only will this mask do serious repair and rejuvenate your skin, but it will help you get a deeper sleep.

Shop NowIf you’re worried about using it during the day while at work, school or operating a vehicle, MedMen assures us that you cannot get ‘high’ from using CBD oils:
CBD is a cannabinoid within the cannabis plant that does not produce the “high” sensation commonly associated with consuming cannabis. The most commonly known cannabinoid, THC, is the psychoactive element of the plant that produces that euphoric feeling.
That being said, CBD products derived from the cannabis plant are only legal to consume in states where marijuana has been legalized.
With our days moving at a rapid pace with constant sensory overload, it’s no wonder why people these days are feeling more stressed and anxious than ever. If you’re struggling with how to manage your stress and anxiety and are weary of taking medication, incorporating CBD products into your wellness routine could be a great option for you. The use of CBD in food & drinks are popular in combating the effects of anxiety & stress – as are oils in baths.
The CBD Kaleidoscope bath bomb is infused with CBD extract, coconut, and other essential oils to help with pain relief, muscle soreness and to reduce anxiety. After a long day at work, soak in the tub with this citrus-scented bomb that provides a tingling sensation.

Shop NowWondering if there is a certain recommended dosage to use? MedMen says:
Every body reacts differently, so there is no set recommended dosage – it’s all about starting low & experimenting to find the correct amount and frequency that works for you.
If you’ve been following along the last few months, you know that we’ve been dealing with some serious health issues and scares with our beloved pup, Polly. Originally misdiagnosed with cancer, Polly has serious arthritis. We started adding a little CBD oil to her food in the evening and the result has been night and day. She has so much more energy, she’s running around and playing more and she visibly looks like she’s feeling better. I can literally tell when we haven’t given her the CBD oil because she starts limping around more.
We did {of course} check in with our vet before we started giving Polly CBD oil, and while they didn’t 100% sign off on it, they definitely gave me the “wink and nod” to use it. I have to admit, at first I felt a little guilty, like I was drugging my dog, but the results have been incredible and she looks so much better and happier!
There's still the age-old 'stoner' stereotype, however, two-thirds of Americans now live in a state where marijuana is legal in some form so we see many individuals adopting cannabis in place of other substances {including wine}. Now, people from all walks of life are using cannabis in order to enhance their health and wellness.
