City Guides 3 months ago Things To Know Before Traveling to Italy in the Summer
After being in Italy for a month, I’ve gathered a bit of intel for those of you planning a trip here.
Mind you, my entire trip took place in Tuscany and a quick trip to Pisa & Venice so these tips may not apply to all. Below are a few fun
Plan on Eating Late
It doesn't mean you have to eat late, but most restaurants get busy around 9 or 9:30pm.
I sometimes will still tip because it feels so weird for me. However, a lot of restaurants have a cover charge called 'coperto.' So, unless specified as 'no service charge' it is not expected to tip in Italy.
August Shuts Down
Basically everyone in Italy takes their summer vacation in August. Almost everyone. It would definitely reconsider if you are planning a trip in August. It's also VERY hot. VERY.
I would always suggest packing an adapter when going to a new country. However you especially need one in Italy. They are surprisingly hard to come by.
Check Museum Times
A lot of top museums and sightseeing activities are closed on Sunday and Monday so be certain to check schedules!
