When it boils down to taking any type of medication or vitamins, pretty much any type of pill, I am not a fan.
I’ve never been the kind of person who pops Advil when I have a headache. I’d rather walk around all day in pain. So, last year when I was pregnant I was a bit reluctant to start taking a vitamin daily. But for the goodness of trying to help my growing baby, I started a pre-natal and truly found the benefits to be outstanding. My skin seemed better, nails stronger and hair thicker.
I immediately reconsidered the effects of vitamins on my body and as my due date quickly approached, I dove into researching what I could do after.

Just before I gave birth, I started reading horror stories about women who lost their hair after delivering. I did a TON of research on all types of vitamins, collagens and other things I could do to prevent this from happening.
Thank God one of my girl friends told me about a magic pill!
He Shou Wu is a species of a flowering plant that is native to southern China that is linked to a number of health benefits, such as healthy aging, longevity and virility. My friend told me that it helped her hair and nails grow tremendously so I started taking it as soon as humanely possible {note: you cannot take this if you are breastfeeding or pregnant!}.
It’s been over 4 months since I started taking this vitamin and I do not have enough good things to say about it! In fact, I’ve converted dozens of my close friends who all have similar results. I can mainly tell the vitamin is working it’s magic by my rapid nail growth. I bite my nails {i know, i know} so I can really see a difference in how quickly they grow!
I haven’t lost any hair postpartum and I honestly think it’s because of this herb!
In addition to taking He Shou Wu, I have continued taking my Pre-Natal vitamins even after I gave birth. There are so many new vitamins on the market now, many with cute packaging and modern branding, all are tempting. But what really works?
