In case you missed the memo: I turned 36 this week!
I cannot believe that I’m right in the middle of my 30s. In complete honesty, I still feel like I’m 28 years old. However, there are a few area of my life that have improved for the better with time, age and the knowledge that comes along with it so I wouldn’t go back even if I could. I was also thinking about how, with time, there are pieces in my wardrobe and life that I’m so thankful to have acquired over the years. I thought I’d share a few trophy things that I think every woman “needs” in her 30s.
Over the years I’ve started a very thoughtful collection of jewelry and every piece has a special meaning to me. The most recent piece of jewelry I received was this beautiful locket by Monica Rich Kosann. I absolutely adore this unique item because it has my two girls inside – our english bulldog, Polly and my sweet baby girl, June.
I do my best to not wear a different fragrance every night of the week. Rather, I like to stick to one perfume each season and I love nothing more than when friends say they are reminded of me when they smell it.
Collect something, collect anything. Whether it’s matchbooks or throw blankets, I think the true sign of a lady is marked by the adoration of collecting something. I am a sucker for Olympia le Tan book clutches. Each one that I own has a story behind it. I also collect hotel pens from my travels.
It’s always a work in progress but by the time you hit mid-30s you {hopefully} should have everything you need in your closet for any occasion that pops up on your calendar. Of course, there’s always that random black tie event that might throw off your game. But if you have a spontaneous pool party that comes up, you should be able to throw something together at a moments notice.
Have you always dreamed of starting a blog or a clothing line? Perhaps your pipe dream is opening up a coffee shop or making a major career change. By the time you find your stride at 30, the number one thing you should take a leap of faith on and invest in is yourself!
