Life 6 years ago My Top 3 Tasks To Avoid on Mondays
Who else has a major case of the Mondays?
It feels like every time Monday rolls around, I find myself sitting at the desk and making a long list of things I want to do. Often times I get a little too ambitious and set the expectation to do things that have been on my “to do” list for weeks, months and sometimes years. Things like “Merge my two checking accounts into one” or “Tackle the gross hall closet by cleaning out the hundreds of random towels we seem to keep for years.”
In an effort to truly maximize my time in and out of the house this year, I sat down to really think about the things I can avoid doing on Monday, to put my best foot forward for the week. These are a few things that I think if you avoid doing on Mondays, you will actually accomplish much more in working towards your big picture goals.
Avoid unloading your inbox first thing on Monday morning. If you really want someone to pay close attention to an e-mail you are sending them, try sending it on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday mid-day when their inbox {and yours} is less inundated. Plus, there is nothing worse than sitting down to 50-100 e-mails in your own inbox, why would you want to contribute to doing that to others?
So it's not entirely work related, but it is definitely a chore. I try to avoid going to the grocery store on Mondays, or running any of my other errands as much as possible. I avoid the gym, the dry cleaners and pretty much any place that has a parking lot {ha!}. It's always too crowded and can serve as a nice big distraction to completing bigger picture goals for keeping your life on track.
Stop doing the same tasks over and over again and come up with a more automative system. I did this recently for the way that I manage all of my incoming inquiries and it genuinely made the biggest difference in my e-mail inbox.
