Texas 13 years ago That's A Wrap
I’m always a bit nervous to head back home to South Texas; not sure what feelings it will bring about. But this particular trip I knew would be a happy one as I headed back for the wrap of my brother’s first feature film.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” When I was a little girl the answer to that question would be “I want to grow up to be just like my brother.”
Plain and simple: My brother was put on this earth to create something that moves people. Whether it be through music, word or film, he is the type of person who talks and everyone listens, the person who walks in the room and everyone turns and the man whose charm and wit will win over any and all who meet him. This weekend I went to our hometown in South Texas to watch my brother’s production company finalize their first feature film. To say that I am proud is a severe understatement. I was beaming with pride as I stood back watching him in his element, just as he was when we used to make home-made movies together as children. It’s always a bit strange going back home; not many things change. The hot, South Texas humidity is always stronger than ever, my favorite foods taste sweeter than before, I am reminded that my favorite smell on earth is rain … and yes, I still want to be Justin when I grow up.
