If you know me, you know I love denim.
It is no doubt one of the staples in my wardrobe. Directly after giving birth it was difficult to wear jeans, and I found myself reaching for dresses and skirts. A few months postpartum, I have finally returned to a jean fanatic.
There is a misconception that denim isn’t appropriate for summer – that it’s too hot or too constraining. That couldn’t be further from the truth. If you pick the right washes, cuts, and additional pieces, they make for the perfect summer look.
Here are some of my favorite jeans of the season as well as my go-to summer denim pairings.
I have been living in my light wash denim lately. I love matching these jeans with a white tee and lighter tones for a pretty, neutral look. The lighter color also screams warmer weather. They make for the perfect day to night look.
While I don’t gravitate towards crazy holes or rips, I love subtle distressing in my denim. It can make an otherwise basic outfit a bit edgier and more eclectic. I love pairing distressed denim with more feminine tops and accessories.
Straight leg has been my go-to cut as of late. I find them incredibly flattering and a little something different than your average skinny. They allow for some air flow without feeling like you’re swimming in your jeans. They are the perfect combination of figure fitting and slightly loose.
High-wasted just doesn’t go out of style. High-wasted denim compliments the straight leg cut in a great way, elongating the legs. I absolutely love high-wasted denim with a half tucked tee, a pair of heels, and a blazer for those chilly summer evenings. I could safely say that’s my most worn outfit combination.
Cropped jeans are so summery and fun. They allow for more breathability, and pair so well with a lacy, flowy, floral top.
A floral or white button down makes for a lovely compliment to your summer denim. Maybe undo one extra button for extra breeziness {and fun}. Button downs are also adorable open over a swimsuit and denim shorts for a poolside look or day at the beach.
Denim plus strappy heels makes for the most perfect summertime night look. So simple, clean and fresh. I absolutely love this pairing.
What is your go-to style for summer denim? What are you favorite outfit pairings?
