No one wants to be walking around on the beach with a caked on face of makeup – or with thick greasy sunscreen that you know will make your face breakout.
During the warmer months I strive to keep my skin fully protected from the sun, to reverse any previous damage (if possible) and to keep my skin looking glowy with a little coverage that will make me feel a little bit more put together.
Today, I’m sharing the steps I take to keep my skin looking and feeling it’s best in the summer, along with some of my favorite products. I’d love to know what your favorite summer skincare products are too, so let me know in the comments below!
I don’t think I have to tell you that keeping your skin protected from the sun and any other damage is key, not only in the summer, but all year round. Not only do you want to protect your face from painful burns, but you want to try to halt the aging process as long as you can. I like to make sure that SPF is a crucial part of my summer skincare routine. I apply sunblock with nourishing ingredients and have been loving Sun Drops, which you can wear alone, or add SPF 50 to any of your other favorite moisturizers.
Another crucial step is making sure that your skin is constantly hydrated. Even if your skin is on the oilier side, find a product that works for you that will lock in that moisture 24/7. The Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Crème is definitely my current favorite hydrating moisturizer at the moment. In addition to moisturizers, I like to make sure my eye cream is super moisturizing and it doesn’t hurt to have a hydrating face mist on hand to use in your skincare routine or throughout the day.
I tend to usually prefer foundations that are on the lighter side like the MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Perfector anyway, but for a day out on the beach or by the pool, I go as minimal as possible with a lightweight tinted moisturizer. Bonus, if it has SPF in it (you can never wear too much). Laura Mercier is always a favorite of mine and I’m also really into the Dior Dream Skin which is an amazing skin corrector.
Whether it’s correcting past damage or current damage, I always try to give my skin some extra TLC in the summer. I love a mask with anti-aging agents and that is super hydrating. If you saw my mention on Instagram Stories the other week, you know that I’m absolutely loving the Jet Lag mask from Summer Fridays, which is so popular that Sephora is having trouble keeping it in stock. Another approach to rehabbing your skin is to heal it from within. I’ve recently been trying the drinkable Goop Glow (it tastes like orange Tang) which includes a whole host of powerful antioxidants and other ingredients that will help reduce the effects from the sun, pollution and stress among other things.
How are you taking care of your skin this summer?
