Outfits 10 years ago Striped In The Big Apple
You know I’m a sucker for stripes.
I feel like stripes are a year round staple that every girl should have in her closet, especially during spring as we head into summer. I used to steer away from body con dresses and then I started to order a size up from my normal size and I’ve loved them ever since. Horizontal stripes can sometimes be unflattering so wearing a fitted body con dress allows you to pull off stripes in a flattering way. Two weeks ago I spent some time at the Standard High Line Hotel {super cute spot by the way} and since the temps were fluctuating between wonderfully warm and chillingly cold I opted to strut my new favorite stripes from Abercrombie with a light coat to top off the look. It made for a perfect transition into the spring/summer season.

Day Eight
I have finally found my sugar free groove. The hardest part about my weekend wasn’t the non consumption of sugary alcoholic beverages, it was actually the exact moment that a friend dropped a huge pile of delicious onion rings right before my eyes on Saturday {damn him!}. But I resisted! I literally picked up the greasy, savory, luscious, tempting and enticing appetizer and set it as far across the table from me as possible. I took a deep breath and focused on my stomach. Yes, I focused on my stomach and I thought about one thing: If I were sitting here in a swim suit right at this very moment would I want to be eating those onion rings? The answer was simple: No. As you read on Day One, I did not enter this 10 Day Challenge because I thought I needed to lose weight. I simply chose to challenge myself to be more conscious with my choices in what I eat. Here I am on Day Eight, exactly one week after going sugar free and I have lost seven, yes SEVEN pounds!!! I swear on William and Polly! Granted the weight was most likely water weight but I have never felt better and my energy levels are at an all time high. I actually headed out for a 2 mile jog yesterday {for the first time in 2 weeks}. I think the hardest part about this challenge is: #1. Cooking. I feel like I have too cook everything. I hung out with the director of Fed Up, Stephanie Soechtig, yesterday and she told me the solution to feeling overwhelmed with the amount of cooking is to do all of the prep work ahead of time. That way when you go to cook it take a lot less time and feels less overwhelming. #2: Labels LIE!!! Even the “Sugar Free Popsicles” that I once lived by to be my secret treat have sugar in them! How are companies allowed to get away with putting “Sugar Free” on the label when it is not sugar free!? Baffles my mind. And, #3: Water! I have a very hard time with drinking water and for some odd reason, doing this challenge has made me really appreciate water. I can’t get enough of it and I truly, truly believe that has a lot to do with not only feeling better, but flushing out the bad toxins in our body. Today I challenge you not to participate in the 10 Day sugar free challenge, but simply to go see the movie Fed Up and let me know what you think!
