Style Tips 4 years ago 15 Small Businesses to Shop This Holiday {and then some!}
Now is the time more than ever when our small businesses need us.
Nothing breaks my heart more than seeing one small business after another have to close its doors to do Covid-19. Because we do a lot of #sponsored content on this blog for the Amazon, Shopbop and Nordstrom’s of the world {gotta pay my bills yo!}, I wanted to also really call out the small businesses that I have known, loved and worn for many years.
You have probably seen many of these brands without realizing it, which is why I’ve included photos of me wearing the pieces from the past. It was a fun little walk down memory lane!
Last year I opened a limited edition pop-up shop at Platform Culver City called By Damsel where I carried labels and products from many of my small business owner friends. I am disheartened that we will not be opening our doors this year, due to the woes of 2020, however I still wanted to shed some light of the many small businesses that I know, love and have shopped for many years.
I know many of you are looking to support small businesses this holiday season – here are a few favorites you may know and may also love! The feature image is of me wearing an oldie but goodie dress by Cynthia Rowley. Another amazing smaller business based in New York.

Listen, I am the Creative Director for 1212 for a reason. I truly believe in this 100% organic cotton clothing brand that June wears and loves since she was a newborn. The best part? Retrouvai
One of my nearest and dearest friends of over 12 years and counting is Kirsty, the creator and designer behind Retrouvai. Her modern heirlooms are truly timeless. Any time we have a special anniversary, birthday or big gifting moment on the horizon, Grant always knows to reach out to Kirsty. I love everything she does and every piece she designs! When I ran my pop-up shop, ByDamsel, Kirsty was so kind to allow me to carry a few of her pieces which sold like hot cakes!
Klur
Sustainably manufactured in the US, this beautiful beauty line makes one of my favorite serums. They have a ton of products to pick from that would be great gifts for the beauty buff in your life.
Heidi Merrick
Heidi and I go way, way back. In fact, she was the very first designed I ever reached out to when I started my blog asking to collaborate. We grabbed lunch one day and I asked if I could borrow some of her clothes to shoot and post in exchange for the borrow? Of course, she said “yes!” I’ve always loved Heidi’s California cool vibe. If you’re looking for a laugh, check out this video we created together featuring a few more bloggers faces you might recognize – ha!
