Inspiration 10 years ago Parisian Home
After spending the past week staying in a Parisian apartment, I’ve been taking a few mental notes on the direction of décor I want to take with our new home.
Side {random} note: Did you know that I am french? Well, mostly french at least. I feel a true connection to the simplicity of life in France. The minimalistic style and sharp taste along with low patience for fuss are the common characteristics I find in relation to my heritage. With that said, there are a few interior design notes I will be taking back to the states when decorating our new home.
I’ve never been to a home in France that didn’t have white walls and it’s very appealing to me. It really allows the crown molding and window treatments to express themselves.
I used to really hate indoor plants but with the uber-simple décor inside a french home they are kind of necessary to warm the place up a bit. It’s amazing what a small potted plant can do for a corner of a room.
Never underestimate the power of a chair. A chair by the bathtub, a chair near your front door, or a single standing chair by the window. I love the idea of stacking books, plants and candles on top of chairs plus they can be used for additional seating when guests come over.
I love dressing up rooms in accidental ways. Whether it be the bathroom, closet or entry way, by putting a small table or mirror/chair in an unexpected place you can change the mood of the room.
Mixing old with new and different styles of art and books will create an eclectic space.
