Our Home 5 years ago New Home Reveal
It is a dream come true to have my home featured on Architectural Digest.
Even writing those words feels so surreal. I’ve been a huge fan of the publication ever since I can remember and have flipped through their inspiring pages for many, many years. A lot of you have written in asking us to share images, but we were holding off until the feature was published. Nonetheless, I’m finally able to share these beautiful photos that Laure Joliet took back in November. You can see the full article on AD by clicking here.
It’s been nearly one year since we moved into this century old home. Compared to our previous house project, this house is quite a departure from the modern, white and more contemporary design that we were previously drawn to. It’s darker, moodier and has a lot more character.
Drawing inspiration from my favorite store, The Line, we enlisted in the help of the very talented interior decorator, Martha Mulholland. Martha has a client roster that spans from working with The Row, The Line, Tom Ford and Gucci to many celebrity clients in the Los Angeles area. Not only did I learn a lot from Martha, but she was able to think if things outside of the box when it came to our home. I wouldn’t have had the courage to use printed drapes {and pink velvet in the formal sitting room!} or know how to blend all of my different tastes together. Martha took my inspiration and carved it all into a beautiful reality. We truly feel so lucky to have worked with her on these rooms.
One of the best things about the home is that it is protected by the Historical Preservation Act. It’s gone through a complete historic restoration including the Batchelder fireplace, original windows and hardwood floors which have have been painstakingly restored. The formal staircase has a landing adorned with a renowned Judson stained glass window.
I’m so happy to have these images to share. Below each one you will find credits for the pieces within the rooms. We still have quite a bit of work to do around the house and have continued to design and decorate each space. It’s a process but I promise to continue sharing images as we complete, change and restore our home.
