I swore I was not going to be one of those pregnant women who read too much – especially after reading Bringing Up Bébé.
However, I couldn’t help picking up a few more books that I had heard good things about. I feel like there is such a vast amount of different pregnancy books and books on parenting, that it’s hard not to get easily overwhelmed. I wanted to make sure that I avoided that {as best as possible} and read only the books that would truly serve me and help me as I enter this new phase in my life.
Today I’m sharing the books that I have been reading and that I have loved.
If you have any books on pregnancy or becoming a new mom that you think I would find really helpful, please feel free to leave it in the comments below!
This is the very first book I picked up when I found out I was pregnant. Honestly, I thought that it might be the only book I read, because it's all about the art of simplicity and listening to your instincts when you are raising your children. I love, love, love this book and think it's fun to read even if you aren't pregnant, because it really delves into the differences between American and French culture.
Shop NowAnother blogger friend of mine posted about this book recently and again, this is another great read that reassures expecting mothers to trust their instincts. It also helps moms to learn more about treating their baby as a human being. I really like the tips in this book which are very practical and easy to put into action. I will definitely be using what I've learned from this book when the baby arrives.
Shop NowI randomly stumbled across this book one night when I was suffering from one of my many pregnancy symptoms, insomnia. This book honestly gave me the motivation to get back to working out at the gym at the beginning of my second trimester. I'll admit that I did not finish this book, but it taught me that pregnant women are very strong and that we are fully capable of continuing with our workout regimen {with slight modifications} during pregnancy.
Shop NowThis book is quite witty, down to earth and will offer up a smile on your super hormonal days. It feels like it was written by your best friend and you should definitely pick this up if you have questions about the realistic side of pregnancy.
Shop NowThis is on my reading list! The title is pretty catchy and I AM a new mom who needs to know what she should be doing. Has anyone read it yet?
Shop NowThis is another book I've dipped into. There's a lot of hip, new books out there, but this one would fall under the classics. It's full of different women and their birth stories. I love reading about birth stories right now. It kind of gives me confidence going into it and shows me what to expect.
Shop NowEverybody is always talking about 'Baby Wise', but this book is the condensed version. I have 'Baby Wise' and I've read it, it is just somewhat overwhelming at times. This book feels like the Cliffs Notes version to sleep training.
