GIFT GUIDES ARCHIVES 11 years ago Making A List . . .
It’s the time of year to start making your list and checking it twice. While you are picking your brain over what to get your loved ones this year, don’t forget an equally fun task: Making your own wish list!
7 Rules When Making Your “Dear Santa” List:
Rule #1 // Always Make A List // Imagine if you had a list of items from everyone on you need to shop for this holiday season? It would make your life so much easier which is exactly what you are doing for your friends & family. Leak your list in a way that seems under cover such as giving it to your Mom “in case anyone asks what to get me” or to your husband “in case Mom calls asking what to get me.” Better yet, if you have a blog, publish it! {Ahem}
Rule #2 // Ask For Needs, Not Wants // This is perfect time to score items for your closet that you’ve been having a hard time pulling the trigger on. Think of the holidays as a great opportunity to stock up on key items you’ve been eyeing for a while.
Rule #3 // Get Personal // The more specific and personal the items, the better! Always traveling and in major need of a jewelry case? Adding a personal story behind your “Dear Santa” letter is always a good tactic for getting what you really need.
Rule #4 // Lists for the non-Listers // I have friends out there who think it’s absolutely crazy that I make a list for my husband. Well, I don’t blame them and I don’t blame you if you think I’m crazy but hey, at least I’m getting what I really want! For those of you who feel completely uncomfortable giving lists, try leaving magazine cut outs laying around the coffee table or create a “vision board” in your closet of all of the things you want so that the special someone in your life will always know where they can turn to make you happy.
Rule #5 // High & Low // Aim for the stars and aim for the cash strapped. Be sure to put a variety of dollar points on your list.
Rule #6 // Money A No Go // Monetary requests are a no go, period. Don’t ever ask for money, no ifs ands or butts.
Rule #7 // Experience The Ultimate // Working on a budget this year? The best gifts are the ones given from the heart. Request a special date night or surprise your sweetie with wine & a movie by the fireplace for a night that is certain to make memories. An amazing and affordable wine favorite is Seven Daughters Merlot {only $13.99}. Toss it in a burlap sack with ribbon around the top and you are ready to gift!
