Without intending to, this turned out to be a quintessential Los Angeles kind of weekend.
Friday night was pretty chill. I got all dressed up thinking I wanted to paint the town red. But after diving face first into my favorite mexican food joint, Mercado, I slipped into a food coma and ended up coming right back home to watch Homeland. I just started watching and I’m only in season one, so please no spoilers!
I kicked things off on Saturday with a hike up to the Hollywood sign. I’m embarrassed to say that this is something I had yet to do in the 11 years of living here. It’s funny how easy it is to get stuck in a routine {I usually hike Runyon Canyon}. Even though there were a few detours made and the hike ended up taking about 3 hours instead of 1.5, it was a nice change. After earning a carb heavy meal, we went to my favorite LA BBQ spot “Bludo’s” and fueled up on a beer margarita, mac-n-cheese and all sorts of BBQ. It was delish!
On Sunday we headed to my father in laws condo in Manhattan Beach, hopped on bikes and cruised down to Hermosa Beach where we had a jazz brunch at The Lighthouse. I’ve been wanting to check this place out since seeing La La Land {it’s one of the film locations} and it certainly lived up to every expectation I’d set.
All in all it was a wonderful weekend that allowed me to slow down and recharge my batteries a bit.
What did you do this weekend?
