I’m a big fan of perfume, but I hated how every time I put it on it felt like the scent only lasted a couple hours.
So I did some research, and guess what? There’s tons of tips for making your fragrance last. I have narrowed it down to the 6 main ‘life hacks’ to make your perfume not only smell amazing, but smell amazing for hours and hours.
You Should have a Pre-perfume Ritual
Before applying your fragrance, you should either apply moisturizer, vaseline, or hop in the shower. Any of these methods with make the skin damp, hydrated, and in turn ready to accept the perfume. The scent will literally stick to your skin.
Dab, Don’t Rub
By rubbing your perfume harshly into the skin, it will only take away from the complexity and intensity of the fragrance. Instead do a light dab, or even better, a simple mist. Another great option is spraying it and walking through. This allows the perfume to coat the whole body.
Don’t Shake It
Shaking or aggressively moving your perfume around with add extra air, dulling its smell and effect on the skin. Try your best to be gentle with the bottle.
Apply it on your Pulse Points
Spritz your perfume on your pulse points, where your body is its warmest. The heat allows the perfume to develop faster and spread throughout the body.
Match your Products
By purchasing the same scent of body wash, lotion and other skincare as that of your perfume, that specific smell will be intensified. Coordination is key!
Proper Storage is Crucial
Store your perfume in a cool, dry place versus a warm, damp one. The added moisture and humidity can break down the perfume, a main reason the fragrance loses its intensity. Perfume is special, and should in turn be stored in a special spot.
