Life 6 years ago How To Make The Most Of Summer {Before It's Over}
Can you believe how fast Summer is going?
I was working on my editorial calendar when it hit me, we are already mid-way into July. While summer may not be the same now as it was when we were kids, there is something nostalgic about the season that really makes me want to savor every last bit of it before it goes away. I got to thinking about all the fun summer memories I’ve had and it made me want to make a list of all the things I’d love to do before the summer is over. Today, I’m sharing a fun list of a bunch of ideas on things to do and how to make the most of summer gets away from us.
I’d love to know what’s on your list, so please leave a comment below!
Take A Digital Detox
If you haven't taken a digital detox yet (whether is be for a weekend of a week), I highly recommend it! It feels so liberating and refreshing and really allows you to enjoy the present. Here are some more benefits.
Make Boozy Popsicles
Popsicles always remind me of summer as a kid. Try making a grownup version to enjoy on a hot summer day. I highly recommend indulging in some s'mores and ice cream sandwiches. Treat yourself!
Grill It Up
There's nothing like the smell of burgers and dogs on the grill to make it feel like summer! Take advantage of being outdoors and cook on the grill as much as possible. If burgers and dogs aren't your thing, check Pinterest for an abundance of grilling recipes from veggie and apps to desserts!
Plan A Day Trip With Your Girls
Beach, lake, pool, new town, concert - make a day with your best girls!
Send A Postcard
Yes, postcards still exist! If you're headed up vacation, send a postcard {or two} to some of your favorite people. It's sure to put a big smile on their face.
Rewatch {Classic} Summer Movies
Classic summer movies mean something different for everyone else, but on my list are: The Parent Trap {either version}, The Sandlot, The Goonies, Forrest Gump, Dirty Dancing and A League Of Their Own.
Take Pictures With A Disposable Camera
I've shared my love for film and taking photos with a disposable camera before! Capture summer fun with one and then make an old school photo album at the end of the season.
Do Some Summer Reading
Summer is the perfect time to read on the beach {or hunker down in an air-conditioned room when it's really hot}. I've rounded up a bunch of books that I've been loving and are on my list here and here.
Host A Game Night
Turn off the TV, leave your cell phones at the door and host a fun game night with family and friends. Go old school and play Trivial Pursuit and Charades or try something new {and millennial} like What Do You Meme? Make sure to have plenty of drinks and snacks on hand!
Go Makeup {and hair tool} Free
You know I'm not one for wearing a lot of make up {or spending a ton of time on my hair for that matter}, but Summer is the perfect time to spend some time going au natural. Embrace frizzy hair and freckles - just don't forget the SPF!
Host A Pot Luck Dinner
Did anyone else have pot luck dinners with friends and family when they were younger? Have your people over for a casual night, have them bring their favorite dish and celebrate the fact that it's summer. Don't forget the cocktails!
Journal
You all know how much I love journaling! Whether it's inspirational quotes and thoughts, keeping more of a diary or writing down some dreams and goals, take some time to journal this Summer and really hone in on what makes you happy in life. You'll start the Fall with a fresh and positive perspective!
