We all struggle to find that sweet spot when it comes to skincare.
How much money to spend? The heavy moisturizer or the light? What is the best foundation for my skin type? How do I look dewy but not oily? Lately I have been diving in to experimenting with different types of cleansers, foundations and other beauty care and have always thought it was pretty crazy how many differences there are between products.
For example, this past year I teamed I teamed up with Olay and tested out their Regenerist Whip Face Moisturizer, but recently I tested out the Micro-Sculpting Cream because it’s a bit more rich for skin that’s feeling extra dry. These two products seem very similar, yet have two completely separate sets of benefits. The whip formula is lighter and absorbs into your skin fast! Both moisturizers contain Vitamin B3 and Amino-Peptide Complex II to help improve your skin.
Thankfully a lot of brands, like Olay, are releasing helpful charts and quiz’s you can take to determine what the best products are for you to use based off your skin type {see one at the bottom of this post from Olay}. But no matter what product you are using, there are a few things you can always do that will lead you to a flawless complexion and we’re listing them below.
When you wake up with tired eyes, caking on too much concealer can have an adverse effect on your face. Try to find a formula that has more moisturizer in it instead of using something thick. Even better? Add a pinch of moisturizer to your concealer for more coverage.
If your skin is feeling super swollen or puffy in the morning, wrap some ice inside a washcloth and press it against your face. This works like a charm and will also tighten up pores.
They say it because it’s the truth. Clocking in at least 7 hours of beauty sleep is good for the mind, body and soul. And a 2010 study from researchers in Sweden showed that a group of participants were rated as more attractive after eight hours of shut-eye compared to when they were sleep deprived.
Air pollutants, sun damage and environmental factors can take a huge toll on your skin every day. Don’t skip washing your face before you hit the sheets.
That extra piece of candy during the day is aging your face! Sugar binds to collagen, weakening it so make sure your diet includes heathy fats and not candy bars.
Cleaning your face doesn’t mean you have to scrub it raw. Be careful not to over-exfoliate and don’t use too many products. Always treat your skin gently and only buff out old skin cells twice a week.
It doesn’t mean you have to run 2 miles every other day, but if you want a fresh-faced glow you are going to need to clock in a few hours of sweat each week.
Thank you for our friends at Olay for partnering on this post. Here is their cheat sheet in which moisturizer is best for you.
