My nesting instincts have officially kicked into high gear and all I can think about is how I want to decorate Baby Damsel’s room.
I think it started when I first caught a glance of Katherine Power’s baby room via Pinterest. Then I dove face first and found myself lost for hours, creating vision boards and pinning images on to my “Baby Damsel” Pinterest board. After giving it a month or so of strong consideration, we have narrowed down our vision to 3 different options which you can find below. I have to warn you that I have my heart set on a pretty expensive glider by Monte. My best friend Shannon had one and when I visited her daughter, I fell in love with how comfortable it was. We plan on having 2 kids so I fully justified splurging on this luxe glider {even though my husband says we should “take it one baby at a time”}. Regardless, I’ve linked to a few budget friendly gliders that are similar in style at the bottom of this post.
I am obsessed with the idea of doing a black metal crib. It has a vintage feel, yet classic in style.
My only concern is that I won’t be able to pull off this look as well as Katherine and my baby room would end up looking like a mismatched version of her chic-California abode. I feel like the striped rug I sourced is a total steal at $200 for an 5X8 and have always wanted to add a small fur throw rug on top to add warmth to the space. We actually already have 2 of these small faux fur rugs around the house. Polly {our pup} is obsessed with them and they truly do make every room feel ultra luxe. Don’t forget that bedding and pillows are going to really add a lot of character to the room. I feel like this should be and will be the last thing we add {the icing on the cake}.
Maybe it’s playing it safe to do a neutral toned nursery but I love how clean and fresh it feels.
Plus, you really can’t go wrong with {almost} all white. I feel like we already have so many pieces around the house that we can layer upon this look with, such as throw pillows and blankets. I also have a really great wicker pouf that I could use as a foot stool for this room. I like how they used a dark green curtain in the inspiration room, however I think I’d still stick to a more nude/cream color. You may notice something similar from the black crib inspiration option and this all white option: the day bed! I really love this day bed as an option and it’s within my budget.
Life sized animal toys are pulling at my heart strings. I definitely want at least one tall, cute animal in my baby nursery. It’s just a matter of picking what animal!
Speaking of, does anyone know where I can find cute and modern life sized animals like the one pictured above. The only ones I could find were super expensive like the one below. Maybe we don’t need a crib at first. The majority of Moms I have talked to say they started their little ones out in a bassinet that they could move around the house. I found this bassinet on Pottery Barn and I love that it’s on wheels because it can be rolled in and out of our bedroom next door to the baby room. A small part of me wants the baby room to be very “done,” but then again, maybe I should start with a bassinet and graduate to a crib 3-6 months in when the baby is ready.
What are your thoughts?
