Fall is upon us and so are layers {literally}.
One of my favorite things about dressing for fall is that you are able to layer up without needing the bulkiness of winter garb. This time of year is perfect for chunky knits over dresses and turtlenecks under them.
While there is lots of experimenting to be done with fall layers, here are 4 of my favorite ways to execute this style.
I love throwing on two completely opposing colors on top of one another {even if they are both still neutrals}. The white top lightens up what would be an otherwise all black outfit and makes it much more appropriate for a sunny day.
A button down or oversized sweater over a slip skirt gives the illusion of layering even though it's simply just a top and bottom.
I love a monochromatic layered look, especially because you can get creative with the textures. There's something so chic and effortless about a silky midi dress paired with a chunky knit sweater. Instead of contrast from the colors, it comes from the juxtaposition of the oversized, edgier sweater and the more feminine dress.
I live for the preppy nature of this trend. It's also a great way to add a pop of color {via the turtleneck} without overwhelming the outfit as a whole. This look also works with a turtleneck dress and a boxy knit or cashmere v-neck atop.
This layering tip is not only quite cute but also very practical. I love having a cardigan tied around my shoulders or a blazer draped over a dress. It's a different way to think about layering and adds a casual chicness to your look.
