It’s quite ridiculous how much product we have coming in and out of the house for June lately.
The thing is, you don’t know until you try and with a baby, everything is so new. So, everything is very much a trial and error. After 4 months of orders, returns, mistakes and wins, I feel like I have my main products favorited and ready to share with you all. These are things that I simply could not live without. Okay, so maybe we could but life is so much better with these tried, tested and true favorites of me and my 4-month old.
Also, I am constantly adding to this list on my Amazon account {where I obsess over making “lists“} so keep the link handy as I continue to update and grow my list of favorites. I edit this list continuously as I’m finding new things. This isn’t sponsored by Amazon. I’m just their #1 fan (ha!).
First thing is first. My ultimate favorite. This will be a completely separate blog post one day, but really it just boils down to this short and sweet little book that a dear friend recommended. We followed this plan from day one and thankfully it’s worked. I strongly recommend reading this. Even if you have an odler baby that you can’t seem to get a sleep hold on.
There are so many things to think about with a new baby. What they will eat. Where they will sleep. What toys they will play with. What mattress is non-toxic. But one thing that I feel gets neglected is the type of clothing you dress your baby in. I am all about the brand 1212 which uses 100% organic pima cotton which makes it safe for June. Not only is the product exceptionally soft {I want some for myself} but the women who founded the company are amazing people. For every purchase made, 1212 donates an item from their collection to Baby2Baby.
We received the Bugaboo Fox as a gift and absolutely love, love, love it for walks around our neighborhood. Buuuttttt the YoyoPlus is next level amazing for quickly getting in and out of the car, trips around town and it’s perfect for travel. It’s incredibly light weight, super easy to use and folds down small enough to fit in the overhead bin on an airplane. I also like how the arms fold down in the front so when you’re in a restaurant it takes up a lot less space than other strollers. We have an endless list of things we love about this stroller.
Okay, so maybe hate is a strong word. But everyone seems to have the Infant Optics monitor and everyone eventually complains about the battery dying or device breaking on them. The good news? They have an awesome customer service that will replace your monitor if it breaks. I secretly love how old school feeling this monitor is. It feels safe to me. However, we just ordered the Nanit and I’ve heard great things so I’ll report back after we use it for a while.
We started June out in this perfect little tub that fit great in the kitchen sink. She loves it, we love it… but eventually I wanted to start doing her night time routine in her own bathroom, etc… so we upgraded to the Baby Brielle and talk about an upgrade! June loves this tub because she can feel more submerged. She literally kicked her feet laughing. It can also be used anywhere in your home since it’s a fold out option. We are big fans of bath time in our house & this tub is a true winner in my book.
Let’s face it, play mats aren’t cute. So I was stoked when I found this adorable one that has two sides. It’s very comfy and easy to clean. As June is slowly starting to roll around more on the floor, I wanted to be prepared for on the floor playtime and I feel really good about this new addition.
She loves the swaddle but equally loves to escape from it. This Miracle Blanket has saved our lives. It was really tricky to figure out at first but it really does work like a charm {and I have tried them all!}. We also love this zippy swaddle for day-time naps and eventually I hope to transition her into this and work towards an arms-free version. Wish me luck.
I take notes. Lots and lots of notes, every single day. Notes about what June eats, how she sleeps, what her pee looks like – you get the message. This has really given me peace of mind when I panic, not remembering if we gave her gas drops yesterday or the day before. It’s truly helped me look for patterns in June’s sleeping, behavior and even diet. This baby tracker journal really has been a life saver.
Why do some bottle brushes splash water everywhere, flinging it into your eyes and pissing you off at the end of the day? I finally found one that doesn’t do that. Click here.
Man oh man is formula a hard one to figure out. Everyone has their own preferences and everyone has their own reasons. We use HiPP Organic Anti-Reflux formula with Dr. Brown’s bottles.
These are hands down our favorite disposable changing pads that have saved me from many nightmare situations. I buy in bulk.
Sometimes June goes through phases where she spits up more than usual. This results in having to do her sheets more than usual. Insert: This little sheet protector thing that my nanny suggested. We really like it. If you use it, just be sure to tuck those ties down nice and tight so they aren’t a possible choke hazard.
To avoid diaper rash, we use these dry wipes on June when it’s #1 only.
I hope this short list helps a few of you fellow Mama’s out there on making some tough decisions. There is SO much product that it’s hard to know what is best for you and your little one. Please leave a comment below if you have any great recommendations. Also, be sure to always check back with my “list” where I’m always adding new things that I’ve tried and loved.
