Travel 7 years ago Where to Eat, Sleep & Shop in Paris
So many of you have asked for my hit list for Paris so I thought I would do a little post on my favorite places.
Please know that I am a creature of habit and while I fully intend on trying out new places on my next trip, here are a few tried, tested and true spots that I always return to when I come to Paris.
To Stay
If you are in to the idea of renting an apartment and pretending like you live in Paris, I very highly suggest looking at One Fine Stay. They have a wonderful selection and are managed by a team of professionals - cleaning service included!
I also strongly suggest staying at the Peninsula Paris Hotel if your budget calls for it. I haven’t stayed at La Clef, however I heard it’s super cute and in a great location.
To Eat
There are so many amazing places to eat in Paris. My favorite thing to do is grab a sandwich and bottle of champagne in the Jardin des Tuileries.
You should definitely try out Lou Lou {my favorite restaurant for a special night out} but you’ll need to make a reservation online before. If Lou Lou is full, try out Le Matignon for a really fun vibe and good food. Le Matignon is perfect for a girls night out or spot to hit up before going out and about. They have a really cool bar in the basement too.
Cafe Kitsuné is in a beautiful garden within Galerie Montpensier. It is one of my favorite places to visit on a beautiful day, grab a cup of coffee and hit up the vintage shops in the corridors. This is also where you will find the black and white striped columns that are popular to stand on for photos.
If you have never been, breakfast at Laudurée is a must! The scrambled eggs are divine and don't even get me started on their world famous macarons. My favorite is pistachio!
Other restaurant favorites include: French, Beef Club, L’Avenue and ferdi.
To See
I know it’s not a section on here, but do yourself a favor and visit the Musee d’Orsay, Opéra de Paris, Shakespeare Book Co., Sainte-Chappelle and (obviously) the Louvre and Notre Dame. I can’t really put them in order because they are all fantastic places and there are so many more amazing things to see in Paris which is an entire blog in and of itself.
To Shop
Now for the important stuff (kidding). Don’t have me but I’m not going to have a long list of secret shopping gems in Paris. Most of the time when I am in Paris, I am there for work which leaves me very little time to explore the city and find little lost shops. I can tell you that my favorite unique store is called Merci. You can start here, have lunch and explore. Then, you can walk your way through the Saint-Germaine area which has lot of popular shopping streets (read more here).
There's also shopping along Saint Honoré where you can find high end boutique like Goyard, Hermes, Louis Vuitton and more. There are also more affordable stores like Zara here too. Be sure to purchase some lingerie! Paris has the best.
That is my quick and short list of where to eat, sleep and shop in Paris. I really hope if you ever find yourself in the city that you enjoy all of the cheese the city has to offer (ha). I swear, that is all I eat when I am there. Paris is such a wonderful city to get lost in. Some of the most beautiful memories I have were finding myself lost in a place with no name, smiling and enjoy the magic that Paris has to offer.
