Travel 7 years ago Best Of: NYC Hotels 2017
If you follow me on Instagram or pay attention to where a lot of my blog posts are photographed, then it will come as no secret to you that I am in New York about once a month.
Thankfully, my blog has taken me to the city more times than I can count. With projects, meetings and other fun opportunities that take me to the Big Apple on a regular basis, I also get to test out some of the greatest and latest when it comes to hotels. A friend recently quizzed me on giving out Oscars, or “Damsels,” for the best of the best so I thought I would share my round-up with you.
Best Service
The Mercer Hotel // Sometimes I jokingly ask myself if the rooms have hidden cameras because it’s as if this stylish hotel located in Soho can read my mind. I will call down for toothpaste and within a minute it is at my door.
Best Bar
St. Regis Hotel // Look, there’s a lot to love about the St. Regis. Their rooms are lavish and when you order popcorn as room service it comes with melted butter. I could go on and on about the butler service and wonderful location of this hotel but what I really love is its bar. It’s not super scenic, nor is it even really hip, but I can always find a seat with a beautifully crafted martini. Plus this hotel is right across from one of my favorite restaurants in town, “Polo Bar.”
Best View
Viceroy New York // First of all, this hotel smells incredible. The minute you walk through the door – wow. Secondly, be sure to try the burger in the downstairs eatery called “Kingside.” And last but not least, there’s the view. You don’t have to be staying at the Viceroy to take in the picture perfect view of Central Park. Just head up to the roof during happy hour and thank me later.
Sexiest Lounge
Rose Bar at Gramercy Park Hotel // It’s dark, it’s cozy, it’s serving up speakeasy style cocktails with live jazz. What more do you want in a sexy lounge? Be careful, the cozy corners can find you getting lost in your drink for hours.
Best Bed
Peninsula Hotel // Again, there’s a lot to love about the Peninsula Hotel including its gorgeous rooftop bar and pool. But, there’s one part of this uptown beauty that always keeps me coming back for more, and that is what happens in the bed {hey, get your head out of the gutter!}. I’ve had some of the best nights sleep crawling into the cozy beds at Peninsula. I can feel the cool sheets now.
Best Instagram-Worthy
Ludlow Hotel // Fact: I do not love this hotel. There’s something about the bed in this hotel that I just am not comfortable sleeping on and it’s Lower East Side location doesn’t rub me entirely the right way. Oh, and I don’t love the food either. BUT, I’ll be damned if you can’t get an epic Instagram photo from this hotel. I’m sure you have seen it pop up on nearly every blogger’s feed {including mine} and the price tag on this adorable hotel is very friendly too. Just be sure to tag me if you stay here! I do love a good bathtub shot of Ludlow.
Best Bathtub/Closet
Four Seasons New York // The only, and I mean only, reason why Four Seasons New York did not win “Best Overall” is because I have yet to stay there since the recent remodel. This hotel has everything on my list. The bathroom/closet set up isn’t even much to write home about outside of its ample space. The tub doesn’t really have a view {or at least the rooms I stayed in didn’t}, but I just love love love taking baths everywhere I go and this tub is my absolute favorite. There’s a television in the bathroom, speakers, plenty of wine and bubble bath. I simply couldn’t love it more.
Best Coffee
Hotel Americano // The perfect point for a quick coffee and/or lunch meeting. During the warmer months be sure to visit the back yard patio and rooftop bar. Read more about this hotel in my post here.
Best Overall
Baccarat Hotel // This is hands down the best overall hotel that has it all. I was lucky enough to stay at this luxe hotel several months ago and you can read about the full experience by clicking here.
On Damsel’s Radar
There are a few places in New York City that are on my lust list that I have yet to try which include the following:
The newly renovated Four Seasons NY {ahem, hint hint}
Hotel Chelsea {opening in 2017}
