It was a balmy summer day as I sat on a small secluded beach with my brother and a few friends.
There were no sounds, only the feelings of laughter in the heart of my stomach. I had on white boy shorts and a white tank top and before a thought could enter my mind, I began running toward the crashing water. The sand felt hard beneath my feet as I ran to meet the warm waves. I dove in, allowing my body to surrender.
As I stayed underneath the surface my heart began to feel as heavy as the sea. I was hoping to get the attention of a boy on the other side of the beach. He didn’t have a face, he didn’t have a name and he didn’t even know I existed. But in that moment, I questioned why he wasn’t interested in me.
I have always been a lucid dreamer.
Sometimes I can catch myself in the middle of a dream and alter my mood or what is happening & I was able to to this last night.
Just as my heart began to sink, I felt arms pull me out from underneath the weight of the ocean with laughter. My brother and his friends had started a game of football in the shallow waters along the coastline. He lifted me up and threw me out to sea like a fisherman casting his line. I let out a squeal of giggles and as I crashed back into the arms of the ocean that was trying to pull me under, my spirit was determined to join the fun and release the grips of insecurity and questioning. I jumped up, turned to the group and just before waking I saw the blinding brightness of a beautiful sunset.
