I have to admit, investing in good lingerie wasn’t something I ever considered until I entered my 30’s. I always thought that buying lingerie sent a direct signal to my man that he was {for lack of a better word} “scoring.” Not only do I now know the importance of investing in good lingerie and bras, but I’ve learned the value in knowing what the best fit is for my body. I think a lot of women relate lingerie to feeling uncomfortable, but that is why I’ve teamed up with my friends at ThirdLove to share their amazingly comfortable bras that are functional and fashionable. This week I am in Paris and I’ve been living in my new Longline Lace Balconette Bra by ThirdLove because it is so comfortable! ThirdLove says that you should love the way you feel under each and every look, which is one of the few lingerie lessons every woman should take with her when purchasing a new bra.

1. Coordination is Key
I’ve always stuck to 2 colors in my bra and underwear drawer: nude and black. Every now and then when I come across a special something, I will splurge on a color. However when you go to grab a set and they’re the same color, it makes matching a much easier process. Plus, follow the French rule that a lack of consideration for co-ordination is quite like wearing two different shoes. It is simply not done.
2. Wear It For You, Not For Him
Sometimes when I am traveling solo I will pack a new bra and undies set. There’s something about the feeling of dressing up for yourself that makes you feel great. When no one else knows that you have a seductive lace bra hiding below your blouse, it will add an extra smile to your face when dining solo.
Longline Lace Balconette Bra
I absolutely adore wearing this lace bra. Not only do I feel confident in it but I also feel comfortable which is the most important factor for me when purchasing lingerie.
Shop Now3. Show It Off {a little}
One of the most frequent comments I get on my Instagram is when a little peek of lace is popping out from under my top. It’s a subtle hint of sexiness and can combine well with your overall outfit. A long necklace paired with a white button down blouse and lace bra are a home run for innocent touches of appropriate, yet flirtatious appeal.
4. Quality over Quantity
Think about it: How many bras do you actually wear on rotation? If you’re like the average woman, you are probably rotating the same 3 or so bras every week so you might as well make them the best quality. No one needs 10 bras in their closet! ThirdLove has a sweet deal right now where if you buy more you save more.
5. It’s Essential
According to WhoWhatWear, french women spend about 20% of their clothing budget annually on lingerie. The idea is linked to a Christian Dior quote, “Without foundation, there can be no fashion,” and it’s about feeling good about what you are wearing on the outside, but also underneath. Be sure to make time to get fitted and try out different bra styles so you learn what works best for your body type.
