The holidays are knocking at the door and this year’s plans are going to be very, very different than what I’m used to.
My doctor put a “no no” on airplane travel, so Grant and I will be cozying up at the home front this holiday. I’m both excited and terrified. I never miss the holidays with my family and we have very strong traditions that I know I’ll be longing for once the days roll by that they are all together. While I know that I’m going to feel a bit homesick, I have to admit that it has been kind of nice knowing that we can really nest up this holiday in cozy sweaters and movie nights. My friends at Reiss sent over the softest sweater that I know I’ll be living in through the season and when I went to their website I noticed a few other pieces that I love which I linked to below.
But outside of hot cocoa on the couch and sparking up the fireplace with s’mores, there are a few other traditions that I think Grant and I might start this year as we celebrate our first holiday alone {and last one before baby arrives!}.
I read somewhere a pretty interesting idea of a 'treat yourself' day throughout the season where you dedicate an entire day to watching holiday movies, eat cookies & doing something that is entirely just for yourself. We often get wrapped up in the importance of giving back to others during the holidays that it's also fun to take care of yourself during the craziness that surrounds the season.
Speaking of treating yourself. This cozy sweater is roomie enough to stuff yourself with all of the turkey your heart desires!
Shop NowMaking ornaments doesn't have to be reserved for children. To make it a tradition, you can craft something up that represents something meaningful that happened to you that year. Then each year you will have pieces that tell the story of your life.
Volunteering at a local soup kitchen is the easiest way you can give back this holiday season and it's probably my top tradition that I'm looking to start this season.
I've been wearing this houndstooth blazer non stop since I scored it. It's perfectly oversized and just the right amount of warmth for LA.
Shop NowCreating a holiday playlist will instantly get you into the holiday spirit. It's also an awesome addition to any parties you are attending if you are looking to help out the host {simply offer up your playlist!}. Click here for mine!
One tradition that Grant and I starting this year is going to a holiday show. We've seen the Nutcracker a time or two, but I'm currently looking for a fun holiday show we can see to put us right into the spirit!
How chic is this knitted robe? It's definitely on my wish list this holiday!
Shop NowI love my sweater so much that I might have to purchase this one as a back up.
Shop NowSpecial thank you to my friends at Reiss for partnering on this post.
