To mask or not to mask?
Face and hair masks seem to be all the rage right now and with summer knocking at the door, everyone keeps stressing the importance of keeping your skin hydrated.
I feel like everywhere I turn there is a new must-try mask popping up on the market. But, in all honestly, I didn’t really know a lot about exactly what these different masks were doing or how and when to use different types {example: mud mask versus clear mask}. So, I did a little bit of research on the different benefits and found a lot of information I thought you’d find helpful too. I’ve also included a list of my favorite masks of the moment.

Dermatologists say to think of masks as a vehicle to provide key active ingredients to the skin and that it works just as well as a serum, oil or lotion with similar ingredients. Therefore the same ingredients that can be absorbed with other products, can also be absorbed in masks - plus, it's more fun and relaxing to use!
Mud masks are excellent at deep cleaning your pores. Mud will draw out oil and toxins that you encounter throughout the day, so that they don't clog up your pores and cause blemishes and other skin flareups.
Most skin care product ingredients will evaporate after a few minutes. By leaving on a mask on for 10-15 minutes, it really allows the ingredients to actually penetrate your skin.
Because a lot masks are made with some sort of clay base, they tend to naturally exfoliate your skin. After you wash off your mask, your skin should feel a lot smoother!
…because your hair needs love too.
