After being away from home for nearly one month, I’m making my final stop in the “City of Light.” I jetted off to New York, London, New York {again} and now I am in Paris. Each trip was for fashion week and/or work projects and I am now on my final leg. As I strolled down the bank of the river the other day, I wondered why we call Paris the “City of Light” and I came up with my own theory. Light is exactly what this exquisite and elegant city brings to my life and with each visit I am shown a new layer of beauty and allure within Paris and a new layer of depth and curiosity within myself. Paris is called the “City of Light” both because of its leading role during the Age of Enlightenment, and more literally because Paris was one of the first European cities to adopt gas street lighting. It’s a beautiful sentiment that praises Paris for being the center of education, philosophy and learning during the age of Enlightenment and it’s especially beautiful as it continues to be the center, the light, of my life.
