Style Tips 9 years ago 7 Tips for Shopping Sales
Spring has sprung!
And with a new season comes a new chapter to your wardrobe that welcomes shopping for all of the latest styles & trends. Here are 7 Tips for shopping sales {aka saving big bucks} when it comes to revamping your closet for the new season.
#1. Make a List: Whenever you see something sick online or in person that you really love, add it to your must have list. That way, when the classic black blazer that you’ve had your eye on goes on sale, you’ll be prepared to make a non-emotional purchase that you know you’re ready for. For example: The Helmut Lang classic Cusp Blazer is currently on sale with the Helmut Lang promotion of $100 off any purchase over $500!
#2. Set a Budget: Yes, I said the “B” word. When you sit down {or stomp through the stores} to start your shopping spree, be sure to set a budget so that you don’t get excited over sales and end up breaking your bank. Put some true thought into your purchases and weigh out the options of spending $300 on one staple item or $300 toward spreading your funds across several small fun pieces.
#3. Year Round Sales: Don’t forget wonderful websites such as The Outnet who have year-round sale prices that way you don’t make an impulse purchase based off a set timeframe.
#4. Read Carefully: Some sales may read “quantities limited” or “not available at all stores.” Before you head out on your shopping adventure, be sure to call ahead to see if a store has your lust worthy item in stock. If you are shopping for a popular item that is hard to find, ask the merchant if they are willing to hold the item until you get to the store.
#5. Go Online: One of my favorite ways to shop sales is online because you can sit on your purchase for a while and not have the pressure of a sales clerk. I love sipping on a glass of wine while playing fun music to set the mood for a successful online shopping adventure, plus it buys you time to think about pulling the trigger.
#6. Ask: Merchants often have different refund and return policies on sale items, especially on clearance merchandise. Be sure to pay careful attention to the fine print.
#7. Don’t feel Rushed: I know it’s easy to get wrapped up in the thrill of a sale, but try and be sure to take your time with each and every purchase you make. If you are shopping online, be sure to walk away from the computer before pushing the “Purchase” button.
