7 Steps Toward a Bikini Body

Bikini season is right around the corner and to be completely honest, I am not quite ready yet. Eating right and working out regularly can be challenging for me but it’s definitely not impossible. Motivation is key, especially if you know you have something that you want to be fit for like an upcoming vacation or event. So in the spirit of getting fit for summer, here are my 7 tips for achieving a bikini body . . .

1: Work Out (seems obvious but get that butt in gear)

Strive for exercising at a minimum of 30 minutes a day. I am strong believer that something is always better than nothing, so even if it’s just a 30 minute walk I say it counts!

2. Exfoliate – You’d be surprised how much extra skin you’re carrying around.

I always feel like a new women after exfoliating my skin. Find my favorite face exfoliant below but if you are looking for a product that will exfoliate the rest of your body try an at home recipe, it’s super easy! Coffee scrubs are a great way to help reduce cellulite, try this recipe 1-2 times a week:

1 cup ground coffee
1 cup sugar or salt
1/2 cup melted coconut oil
1/2 Tablespoon cinnamon (optional)
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract (optional)

Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container or mason jar.

3. Hydrate. – They say the quickest way to start shedding pounds is to pound water

Drinking water, the oldest trick in the weight loss book. Drinking a lot of water actually helps to boost your metabolism and detox your body. Not to mention that drinking excess water helps to train your body not to retain water which will lead to instant results by shedding those few extra pounds of water weight.

4. Eat Lean – Try to cut out heavy carbs and fill your diet with fish and veggies

Probably the hardest of the 7 steps is eating lean and healthy. Cutting out carbs can be very difficult, but just after a few days of clean eating I can already notice a difference on my body. I actually recently wrote a post about clean eating after I met with a nutritionist Kelly from Be Well by Kelly  who gave me all of her tips and tricks to healthy eating without having to completely change your entire lifestyle.


5. SPF – Time to invest in a good SPF for summer. My favorite is by La Mer {for face}

There is nothing worse than getting out on the beach for the first day of summer and finding yourself extremely sunburnt only a few hours later. Protect your skin from burning and premature aging by always applying SPF when you are out in the sun.

6. Cut back on booze – I know, no fun. But you’ll thank yourself later.

Alcohol adds empty calories to your diet. Even just a one week detox will help to show great results, this step is one of the hardest but definitely the most rewarding.


7. Bring in the ball – Try bringing in an exercise ball to your house and at night when you’re watching TV, do sit ups, push ups and squats

Exercise balls can be great for toning and sculpting your body and they are easy to have at home. One easy exercise is to simply do crunches laying back on the ball with your feet on the ground. Sometimes I will watch a TV show and then during every commercial I will do a few ab crunches.
