Travel 7 years ago 6 Hotel Hacks for Your Next Trip
The past month was a crazy whirlwind. Between New York, Paris, Provence and Dubai I have found myself sleeping in a lot more hotels than home. Some of you have asked me recently what a few of my favorite travel tips are and we did a post on Top Tips for Flying however I thought it would be fun to do one surrounding hotels. Hopefully this list can help out for your staycation, vacation and anything else in between.
Do you have any hotel hacks that work like a charm?
1. Turn Down for What?
If you are staying in a hotel that offers turn down service, be sure not to turn down the turn down. Kindly say “no thank you but I would love 2 bottles of water!” as most hotels offer complimentary along with turn down.
2. No bubbles? No problem!
Shampoo works as an equal alternative to bubble bath.
3. Special Occasions
If you are checking into a hotel to celebrate a special occasion, be sure to let the hotel know. Sometimes, they will send a bottle of bubbly or sweet treat to say Congrats!
4. Bluff ’em
Okay, I wasn’t going to include this one but if you are up for the challenge it works for me every single time. I pick and choose when I really want to work my charm but almost every time I immediately arrive in a hotel room if I call downstairs and ask for a bigger room I almost always get upgraded. Just be really really nice and say it wasn’t what the photos online looked like. Pause. Wait for them to talk.
5. Concierge
The concierge can be incredibly helpful with not only dinner reservations and advice on where to go and what to see, but they can also help you with shipping, pharmacy runs, and pretty much anything else you can imagine. Utilize them.
6. Collect Your Hotel Pens
I’m not really into collecting souvenirs, however I do collect hotel pens. I have a jar of them on my vanity from all of the special places I have been. If you like a hotel pen, keep it! Slippers apply here too.
