The creators of Havaianas can rejoice {#notsponsored}.
I first noticed flip flops gracing the streets of Copenhagen fashion week and I have to admit, I kind of smirked.
First the “Dad sneaker” and now this?
I used to wear flip flops in my college years but after hitting my 30s I swore off the style. But I have to admit that lately my heart is feeling quite torn about busting out my black babies for days when I’m running around the streets of Los Angeles. I don’t necessarily agree with wearing flip flops in a city like Paris when you are getting dressed up for fashion week, however I do understand and appreciate the fashionistas who are trending up their outfits in a “not trying too hard” kind of way by wearing them.
One of my favorite bloggers to follow, especially when it comes to shoe trends, is Charlotte Groeneveld from The Fashion Guitar.
I sat next to her at the Tory Burch show and that is when I was sold on the sandal. She made them look so cool girl that I immediately ordered a pair in black.
Flip flops make a ton of sense for girls who are constantly on the “go.” If you live in warmer climates, such as Los Angeles, they are the absolute best thing to always have in your closet {or trunk} in emergency situations. My favorite flip flop brand is hands down Havaianas. I don’t think this trend is meant to, in any way, feel elevated of luxe. The entire point of the flip flop is to give off the vibe of “effortless” so I would not waste a ton of money investing in expensive versions of an ordinary flip flop.
I am, however, looking very forward to seeing how brands implement the flip flop trend into their upcoming spring collections. I've already started to see sneak peeks popping up with European brands such as Bevza.
Overall I don’t think this is a trend that is here to stay, yet one that continues to come and go with time {just as all fashion trends do}.
How do you feel about the flip flop trend? Do you see yourself wearing them with dressier outfits or more jeans and t-shirt kind of days?
