Inspiration 12 years ago Tips For The Party Planning Damsel
This Champagne Thursday is all about becoming a Damsel who is the hostess with the mostess. Host a party that your friends and family won’t forget with these quick & easy planning tips.
1. Pick A Color Theme: Choosing a color theme for your party will help when selecting everything from plates & napkins to other types of decor. Having specific colors will prevent you from getting items that may look cute and fun, but do not go with the overall design of your party.
2. Freshly Cut Flowers: A must have in my house are freshly cut flowers. Stay in tune with this seasons flowers and choose colors that fit within your scheme.
3. Signature Cocktails: Always, always, always have a signature cocktail. Even if you’re only hosting a party for 4 it’s best to have a drink that is in the pitcher and ready to serve right as your guests arrive. If possible, carry your theme out into your drinks. For example, a lavender color pallet calls for a spruce of lavender in your drinks. If you color’s are green, throw in some mint, etc… A cute pitcher that you are proud to show off is always good to have in the house. I personally love this Hobnail Pitcher {$78} from Anthropologie. I always get compliments when I bring it out.
4. Set The Table: If you’re hosting a dinner party, no matter how large or how small, do me a favor and set the table. It doesn’t have to be extravagant and even if you’re using paper plates, just set it. It shows that you care about your guests.
5. Party Favors: If you want your guests to be wow’d when they leave, put together a small party favor to leave them smiling at the door. My tip is if you’re hosting a party size over 15 then party favors are recommended, if possible. Keep them in tune with the theme and overall subject of the party (i.e. if you’re hosting a Champagne Thursday party then give out mini-bottles of champagne). For a lavender themed party, I love the idea of making this a DIY project: Organic Lavender Flowers {$12)
6. Dress Your Home / Dress Yourself : As the hostess with the mostess you should be dressiest person at your party so guests won’t feel “overdressed.” If possible, wear a small touch of your color theme. I love this Lace Shell Top {$64} because it has a hint of lavender to it.
And don’t forget to smile, keep drinks full and always have a game of Apples to Apples handy to kick things up a notch.
