Outfits 10 years ago There's No Place
A very peculiar incident occurred yesterday.
Rather, several odd episodes took place on Sunday afternoon after my husband left the house for his weekly hockey league.
It all started when I went to the grocery store to pick up something to cook over at my brothers house. The moment I walked in I received a phone call from ADT that our side door had been opened and the alarm was going off. Because my brother lives around 20 minutes away and the dogs were home alone, we decided to send the police to check things out. I immediately got in my car and raced home. I threw my hazards on {since I was driving quite haphazardly} and tenaciously weaved in and out of traffic trying to get home as quickly as possible. I know that it might sound crazy, but I was truly worried about the safety of William and Polly. I began to have flashbacks to the year my family home was broken into and I was home alone, 11 years old at the time, hiding in my parents bathroom while the intruders fought to get inside. {That is an entirely other long story we can save for another time}. But, needless to say, just as I pulled into our driveway the cops met me at my door. Thankfully it was a false alarm, no one broke in and aside from a little nervous vomit, the pups were a-okay.
After the police left, I went to search for William and Polly’s collars. I searched everywhere inside and finally thought to look in the back seat of my car. I went out to my car and immediately gasped because I had left the house keys inside and locked myself out of the house. With the only thing in my hands but a cell phone and keys to my car, I drove back to my brothers house feeling exceptionally deflated and out of luck. We cooked up some queso and threw back a few beers while I waited for my husband to get home. As soon as he got home I made my way back to the nest and while I was stopped at a light I witnessed a horrific car accident happen right before my eyes.
It was a very strange day full of incidents that all seemed to have a particular timing about them. I am always looking for lessons in life and one take away from my Sunday is this:
With the holidays knocking at our doorstep, it’s so easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of the season. Running around town from point A to B, seldom to we take a moment to stop and be thankful for our good fortunes. I cannot tell you how happy I was to finally reach my front door where two wagging tails and a hug were waiting for me.
