I went up to Santa Barbara this past weekend and was {thankfully} greeted with a bit of chilly weather.

My in-laws live in the Santa Barbara area so it was a nice reality check as to what the weather will be doing next week when we head back up for Thanksgiving. When it comes to packing for Thanksgiving, I like to keep things as simple as possible. I try not to stress too much about what I’m wearing because hey, my family honestly has to love me no matter what I’m wearing so I might as well be comfortable!

I always tell people to pack a denim jacket to layer over sweaters. In my opinion, denim jackets look best with black jeans and my favorite pair at the moment are by Joe’s Jeans which have a frayed end. You can pack 3 sweaters and wear the denim jacket over the sweater or toss the sweater around your waist and wear your denim jacket with a t-shirt or tank underneath for the warmer parts of the day. By mixing up your shoes from day to night and mixing with different top layers, it will make your simple packing job look much more diverse and seem as though you have tons of outfit options.

Here is my packing list:

• 3 Sweaters = 1 white, 1 light grey and 1 bold color
• 1 Denim Jacket
• 1 Hat
• 3 shoes total {wear 1 pair on the way there} = 1 over-the-knee boot, 1 ankle boot and 1 mule/sneaker
• 1 pair of black jeans
• 1 tank/t-shirt
• 1 scarf
