Outfits 10 years ago Journey of a Dress
A week ago today I skirted back quickly to Los Angeles from NY to attend the opening event for the Diane von Furstenberg Journey of a Dress exhibit.
After all, how could I possibly miss a moment celebrating one of my all time favorite designers.
I will never forget my first DVF wrap dress. My mother & I were shopping in Chicago for my very first job interview in college. I remember how my mother always looked so classic wearing her wrap dresses and I’d always secretly wanted my own. As we made our way to try on a few DVF dresses, I hesitated because being a college student I wasn’t quite ready to invest in such a lovely piece. “Just try it on and see how you feel,” my mother encouraged me. The moment you put on a wrap dress by DVF you can never go back. The dress empowered me with self confidence, poise and an overall feeling of “I’m a woman hear me roar.” I still feel this way every time I step into anything by DVF. My mom saw the way I lit up when I put the dress on and offered to buy it for me. Oh, and I landed the job!
The Journey of a Dress Exhibit showcases classic DVF wrap dresses from the past 40 years & celebrates all things fabulous. If you live in Los Angeles or are in the area you should 100% stop by for a viewing.
