Outfits 10 years ago In the moment
It’s weird to think about how different things were a year ago.
For grins, I pulled up a post I wrote this exact week last year and on the surface it seems as though not much has changed since then. One year ago today, we were going to watch my brothers first feature film premiere in Los Angeles and tomorrow it will have its big debut in theaters, on iTunes and on demand. One year ago today, I was wearing a stripe top and spending weekends at home with the family and enjoying a month long Thanksgiving experience. One year ago today, I was stressing over what to get every one for Christmas and working extra hard to complete my Holiday Gift Guide, the 12 Days of Damsel and other collaborations with my favorite brands.
Like I said, not too much has changed.
And while it may not seem as though much has altered in terms of my day-to-day comforts and concerns, an entire year has passed. 365 days have quickly come and gone and with the approaching holiday season I cannot help but to take a moment to reflect on the changes that have taken place inside my world.
Last year my favorite color was black and this year it is white. Last year I ran, this year I walk slowly and take in my surroundings. With each day, week, month and year that passes while time sometimes feels as though it stands still – we are constantly learning, growing and experiencing new things. The holidays are my favorite time of year because it offers time with family, reflection and gatherings that force us to slow down and appreciate living in the moment.
