I found myself wandering through Culver City when I stumbled across a dark and empty barn just off LaCienega Avenue.

The echoing sound of my heels stepping across the empty space and the faint smell of dust left me yearning for home. My Dad is currently harvesting grain and in another month he will be harvesting cotton. Memories of driving the module builder and bringing the crew Dairy King for lunch off the back of my Moms station wagon all began to settle in and a very familiar bite of homesickness seeped into my heart. Like many, this season of the year is a favorite because it is summer, which welcomes trips to the beach, travels around the world and fun backyard BBQs with friends. But most of all, this is the time of year that my family always joined together to help harvest the crop. It is a favorite and it always leaves me smiling with pride for what my father does.
