Travel 8 years ago Destination: Paris
It’s the end of September, which means it is my favorite time of the year to visit Paris. Living in Los Angeles we don’t experience many seasons, but autumn in Paris is something I would hate to miss. Although I am here for Fashion Week, it is only appropriate that I eat and shop my way around this city throughout my stay. Here are some of my favorite places to eat, drink and shop . . .
Do you have any suggestions for me while I’m here?
To Eat & Drink
01. The Beef Club Ballroom {58 rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau} // I could never come to this city without going to this trendy restaurant. The Beef Club Ballroom is known to have some of the best meats in all of Paris, but be sure to book a reservation in advance as it tends to be quite busy at night. Enjoy an amazing dinner then head downstairs to the basement and check out their secret cocktail bar and after hours night club.
02. L’Avenue {41 avenue Montaigne} // I’ll take any excuse to get dressed up for a swanky Parisian dinner any day. This restaurant is definitely a must when I am in Paris, the atmosphere is beautiful and intimate and not to mention to the food is outstanding.
03. Castor Club {14 rue Hautefeuille} // Called one of the best bars in the world and for good reason, this bar has specialty handmade cocktails that are out of this world. I cannot recommend any specific drink or reflect on my favorite because their menu is different every time I go, but this keeps me coming back to see what the latest and greatest drink is in the city. With a mellow and dimly lit atmosphere this cocktail bar comes highly recommended.
04. L’Ami Jean {27 rue Malar} // If you are looking for a very authentic French restaurant experience than I would suggest L’Ami Jean. They have an innovative menu with unique entrees all cooked in a very traditional French way. Served as a prix fix menu, you will leave having eaten more than you ever thought you could.
05. Hôtel Costes {239 Rue Saint Honoré} // With their restaurant located on the terrace, this is the place to go on a warm fall night. Enjoy the cozy and romantic outdoor atmosphere, amongst a very fashionable and trendy crowd.
To Shop
01. Merci {111 boulevard Beaumarchais} // Having written about this concept store in a previous post, Merci is still and probably always will be one of my favorite stores in Paris. I love taking my time looking through this store discovering new designers and pieces to fall in love with. They also have a great interior home goods section that never fails to bring new inspiration ideas to my home.
02. Gabrielle Geppert {31 Galerie de Montpensier} // There is something about vintage shopping in Paris that sounds more attractive than in the states. If you are into vintage shopping, than Gabrielle Geppert is the store for you and this vintage shop is by far the best one I’ve ever been to. I love shopping here and finding unique pieces that I could never find or repurchase anywhere else, it makes the item that much more special and did I mention it’s located inside the walls of a beautiful garden? You cannot go to Paris without stopping in here.
03. Shakespeare and Co. {37 rue de la Bûcherie} // Whenever I find a cozy bookstore in a new city it automatically goes on my favorites list and Shakespeare and Co. is no exception. Serving as both a bookstore and reading library, it is easy to spend hours on end exploring the bookshelves and picking out new books to read. This bookstore is a must see while in Paris.
04. Colette {213 Rue Saint Honoré} // Another popular concept store, where you can find anything and everything hip. From clothes, shoes and bags to home decor, magazines and records, this shop is easy to get lost in. It’s hard to have any expectations walking in, as they have such unique merchandise. This boutique will leave you thinking “how did they ever find that?”
05. The Nose {20 Rue Bachaumont} // A very hip shop in Paris where you can undoubtably find any perfume fragrance you could ever dream of. Upon entering the store the friendly staff will ask you to fill out a survey called a perfume diagnostics, the clerk will review your answers and then show you to the top five most suitable fragrances for you based off of your answers. I like to try wearing different scents, so this unique and very daintily decorate boutique is a fun place to pop in.
