Last week we hosted my in-laws for a birthday dinner at our home.
It was one of the first times since Covid-19 that we have hosted a small dinner party and boy did it open my eyes up to the fact that we need an outdoor dining room set up. Our outdoor area is, for lack of a better word, neglected. When we moved into our house two years ago, we focused most of our energy {and budget} on dressing up the interiors. Now that June loves playing in the backyard, and it’s one of the only “vacation” destinations we’ll be taking this year, I think it’s time to slowly start investing in some nice outdoor furniture, starting with dining.
Hosting dinner parties looks a lot different in 2020 than years past.
For us, it means playing it extra safe by dining al fresco. We do live in Los Angeles where the weather is top notch throughout most of the year. As I venture down the big rabbit hole of outdoor dining options, I thought I’d throw together a post of my favorites. Please leave a comment to share any resources you know of for outdoor dining table. Also, I’d love to hear which is your favorite from my list!
The foundation of the outdoor dining setup. This is all dependent on how many people you are hoping to entertain. Outdoor furniture can certainly add up quickly, so I found this more lightweight, affordable option. I also love the idea of having a bench instead of individual chairs.
This part is so fun. I swear I could look at linens forever. I’m all about mixing and matching napkins, but I truly love having a full set. I think this is a really fun way to add a little color to your tablescape, but I am also all for keeping it neutral if that’s more your speed.
Is anyone else as obsessed with seagrass glassware as I am? It just immediately screams summer if you ask me. Big platters are also key especially when serving things up family style.
