After multiple girlfriends {I’m talking to you Isabelle} asked about what my favorite slip dresses were, I decided it was time to put together a round up. Here are the 5 slip dresses I currently own and my genuine thoughts about each.
Do you have a favorite slip dress that needs to be added to the mix? Leave a comment below!
Right now this is my favorite black slip dress. It's a bit thicker so you feel more comfortable going sans bra if possible. I like the thickness because it feels really luxe and heavy enough to get a lot of wear out of it. I don't feel like I need to baby the fabric or be nervous about wearing it too much. I don't think this material is quite right to wear a cotton t-shirt underneath. I would opt for a sheer top or lace bodysuit instead. The material is too dressy to pair with cotton.
Shop NowThis was my first slip dress investment and it remains a favorite. Protagonist is the king of slip dresses and I feel really sexy when wearing this one. It has a way of moving around the stomach area so you don't feel like it's too clingy. I will admit that I am nervous to wear this slip. The material is a bit thin and after 8-10 wears, I'm seeing the threading start to loosen around the edges which makes me nervous. I'd try to find this on sale if I were you but it's definitely a classic trophy piece for your closet. Just don't plan on getting an entire summer's worth of wear out of it
Shop NowThis gold slip dress is perfect for summer. I feel like it can be worn dressed down with sandals and a blazer, or you can pop on heels for a fancier occasion. Right now I have no complaints on this pretty bronze number and would strongly suggest getting it.
Shop NowThis dress wins the trophy for best all around slip. It's more affordable, durable, wearable with pretty much anything and it will wear in well. It feels delicate, but strong and the fit is perfect.
Shop NowIf you're looking for a simple, short black slip dress to wear this summer I scored a cheap one by ASOS a few months ago. When in doubt, don't splurge on a wildly expensive piece until you've given a test run with a cheaper option. Forever21 and ASOS are great places to find good black slip dresses. I've linked to a very similar option here.
