I love heat. I even love the heat with hot wind added to it. So, when I was invited to hop over to Palm Springs this weekend, I didn’t jump or hop, I ran. I can’t remember my first trip to Palm Springs but I do remember immediately falling in love with this adorably hip town that’s just a 2 hour drive from Los Angeles. There are so many reasons why I have officially dubbed Palm Springs as one of my top weekend getaway locations, but I’ve narrowed the list down to 3:
- The architecture. Need I say more? Palm Springs is the mecca for the era of mid-century modern architecture. With developers and architects like John Lautner, Donald Wexler, Albert Frey and E. Stewart Williams, every type of structure {residential, commercial, civic and even schools} has a piece of history attached to it.
- Traveling back in time to the infamous Melvyn’s at the Ingleside Inn is just about as good as an evening gets in my book.
- The weather, again, is phenomenal. Sure it was 107 degrees on Saturday but the 4th best thing about Palm Springs is that everywhere you go has a pool {and delicious cocktails}.
