Travel 6 years ago 10 Hip Hotels in California
One thing is for certain, there are no shortage of cool hotels in the state of California.
After living in California for 11 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to visit a handful of beautiful, luxurious {and totally Instagrammable} hotels. Even so, there are so many others on my list of spots to visit, and as the years go by and new places pop up, my list keeps on growing! Whether you are heading to the beach, to the mountains or to the desert – the north or the south – there is undoubtably a bunch of cool hotels to stay in. Today, I’m rounding up the top 10 hippest hotels in California! Some of them I’ve had the pleasure of visiting and others are at the very top of my list.
I’d love to know which California hotels are your favorite. Feel free to leave a comment below!
Pendry - Sand Diego, CA
Grant, {Polly} and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this cool San Diego hotel. Conveniently located downtown, this hotel has instagram-worthy style and a seriously awesome rooftop pool, which we of course took full advantage of! As you might have guessed, the hotel is very dog friendly {the staff even left Polly special treats, knowing her allergies}. In addition to the rooftop pool, Pendry also has 6 amazing restaurants and a beautiful spa. Click here // {rooms from $255 a night}
Montage - Laguna Beach, CA
Located in beautiful Laguna Beach, the Montage is a luxury hotel that is not to be missed. Grant and I were able to stay there a few years ago and we still have the fondest memories of our vacation there! In addition to being right on the beach, the Montage has 2 stunning pools over looking the ocean, world class spa and 3 incredible restaurants. This hotel is also dog friendly which is obviously a huge plus! Click here // {rooms from $895 a night}
Colony Palms Hotel - Palm Springs, CA
The Colony Palms Hotel describes itself as a 'luxury boutique hotel and hidden oasis in the heart of Palm Springs' and I'd have to agree. Frank Sinatra once even called it his 'home away from home'. Centrally located to all Palm Springs has to offer, you feel like you're in a secluded resort as soon as you enter the property. The Colony Palms Hotel is also home to one of the best restaurants in town, Purple Palm Restaurant & Bar, as well as a beautiful pool and a wonderful spa. Click here // {rooms from $169 a night}
Sacred Sands - Joshua Tree, CA
Located on a hilltop at the western entrance of the national park, Sacred Sands combines rustic desert charm with the comfort of a luxury hotel. The views are absolutely incredible! With only 2 rooms, this exclusive hotel requires a two night minimum. Click here // {rooms from $339 a night}
Four Seasons Biltmore - Santa Barbara, CA
We recently stayed here when we were up in the area visiting my new nephew and we absolutely loved this hotel! With its stunning Spanish colonial revival architecture and lush grounds overlooking the pacific, The Biltmore really is breathtakingly beautiful! It also has an abundance of amenities including two pools, award winning spa, tennis, as well as four restaurants and two lounges. Select guests are also able to access the exclusive Coral Casino Club. Click here // {rooms from $645 a night}
Post Ranch Inn - Big Sur, CA
It's no wonder the Post Ranch Inn has toped many lists as one of the best luxury hotels in the world. Atop the cliffs of Big Sur overlooking the pacific, the views are absolutely breathtaking and provide the perfect setting for a romantic getaway! Beyond the location itself, the property also boasts two heated infinity spas, yoga classes, an award winning spa and restaurant among other amenities. With only 40 rooms, this adults only hotel books up fast, so make sure to plan ahead! Click here // {rooms from $1,525 a night}
La Playa Carmel - Carmel, CA
Built in 1905, this luxury Carmel hotel has no shortage of history and charm! Located steps away from the beautiful beach and quaint town center, this property which is known as the 'Grand Dame of Carmel', features an abundance of beautiful gardens, secluded patios and a swimming pool. Palihouse - Santa Monica, CA
Located a short walk from beautiful beaches, the iconic pier and shops, bars and restaurants at the Third Street promenade, this Santa Monica luxury hotel is not to be missed. Its design and decor alone, make it an Instagrammer's dream! If you are looking for a place to stay in the LA area, I highly recommend booking a room here. Click here // {rooms from $355 a night}
Auberge du Soleil - Napa Valley, CA
If you're headed to Napa, look no further than the Auberge du Soleil! With its spectacular vineyard views, Auberge du Soleil is the longest standing Napa hotel on the Forbes Five Star Hotel List. In addition to it's luxurious rooms, the hotel also has a Michelin Star Restaurant and an award winning spa. After a hard day of wine tasting in the Napa Valley, this hotel is exactly what you'll need to get in some R & R.
