National Farmer's Day

What better way to celebrate National Farmer’s Day than with a video I shot back on my family cotton farm? For over 100 years, my family has been farming cotton. It is something that I hold very near and dear to my heart. A few months ago, I partnered with Cotton as their brand ambassador to help educate the fashion industry on all things cotton related. As I pay homage to my family farm on this fun holiday, I am also excited to share with you how cotton is turned from “Farm to Fashion” in this quick video. I hope you enjoy!

I am tears watching this. It reminds me of “So God made a farmer” ( )
I am a native Southern California “Surfer Girl”….but also lived in Arizona, near the Pima cotton farms (now lost to the Pima Freeway), then in the California Central Valley near the cotton farms there, and then almost 20 years in Texas. I grew to love Texas: the wide open spaces and the farmers & ranchers that make it all hum. I am back in SoCal now, near the beach, near LA….but I miss Texas. It will always be in my heart & blood. If you’re not from “there”, it’s hard to convey, but if you are….then you get it. Thanks for this.

Love living in Texas. Also, there is a fascinating history of cotton picking in Texas (including San Patricio County) by SMU historian Neil Foley that I’d recommend for anyone interested in cotton culture! 🙂
